What Are "COB" LEDs and Why Do They Matter?

Chistopher Rice 10/12/2017 0
What are Chip-on-Board (“COB”) LEDs? Chip-on-Board or "COB" refers to the mounting of a bare LED chip in direct contact with a substrate (such as silicon carbide or sapphire) to produce LED arrays. COB LEDs have a number of advantages over older LED technologies, such as Surface Mounted Device ("SMD") LEDs or Dual In-line Package ("DIP") LEDs. Most notably, COB technology allows for a much higher packing density of the LED array, or what light engineers refer to as improved "lumen density". For example, using COB LED technology on a 10mm x 10mm square array results in 38 times more LEDs compa...

2017 Survey of Trade Show Electric Costs

2017 Survey of Trade Show Electric Costs

Chistopher Rice 02/17/2017 4
In 2014 we conducted our first survey of electric fees charged at the larger trade show venues in the United States (see results of this survey here). Due to popular request, we decided to update this survey for 2017. Just as before, we looked at all venues with at least 500,000 square feet of exhibit space, which translated into 32 convention centers. Not surprisingly, the cost of both electrical power and labor increased from their 2014 levels among nearly every venue surveyed (see 2017 survey below). Floor power alone is now averaging $157 per show for the lowest tier (typically 500 watts) ...

Furthermore, objects that sparkle often convey a sense of quality and value. Next time you visit a high-end shopping mall, look around and you will notice every surface is gleaming. Survey of Trade Show Electric Fees

Survey of Trade Show Electric Fees

Chistopher Rice 05/23/2016 2
In 2014 we conducted a survey of electric fees charged at the larger trade show venues in the United States (see results of this survey below). We looked at all venues with at least 500,000 square feet of exhibit space, which translated into 32 convention centers. If you've never exhibited at a trade show, the high costs will likely surprise you. For example, floor power alone averaged $148 per show for the lowest tier (typically 500 watts) of service! And this figure does not include electric labor, which averaged nearly $100 per hour extra!!! So if you're planning to add or move an outlet, r...
